The Czar Bell, the greatest achievement of Russian foundry, weighs 216 tons. Currently the largest bell in the world, it is 6.24 meters high, and has a diameter of 6.6 meters. It was molded by Ivan and Mikhail Matorin in 1733-1735 on Empress Anna Ioannovna's order. A slab cracked off the bell during a fire in 1737.
