Soviet and Russian architect Alexei Shchusev was born on October 8 (September 26 OLd Style). His most famous works are: the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh in the Kulikovo Field, the church and museum in Natalyevka near Kharkiv, Martha and Mary Convent of Mercy in Moscow, Kazansky Railway Station, Lenin Mausoleum, the building of the People's Commissariat for Agriculture, Komsomolskaya Circle metro station and the Moskva Hotel.
