Actress Maria Yermolova was born on July 15 (July 3 Old Style), 1853. She was one of the most talented actresses at the Maly Theater and became famous for the freedom-loving and independent characters she created on the stage. In 1935, the Yermolova Drama Theater opened in Moscow.
