150th anniversary of birth of animal trainer Vladimir Durov
Russian animal trainer and circus performer Vladimir Durov was born on July 7 (June 25 Old Style). He developed a training system based on food motivation. For better training results, Durov studied the works of Ivan Sechenov and Ivan Pavlov. On January 8, 1912 he opened a small animal theater in his house, which was later named Durov's Corner (now Durov Theater or Grandpa Durov's Corner) and featured animals doing tricks.
