People's Artist of the USSR Zinovy Gerdt (1916-1996) was born on September 21. He was actor with the Obraztsov Theater and got famous for his role of Conferencier in "The Unusual Concert." Actor with the Yermolova Moscow International Theater Center. Got his first screen role in 1958. Among his roles were: Kukushkin in "The Magician," Panikovsky in "The Little Golden Calf," Einstein in "Mr McKinley's Escape," Oleg Grigoryevich in "Nontransferable Key," King of the River in "On the Golden Porch," Lawyer in "Thieves in Law", 1988, Arie Leib in "The Drayman and the King," shoemaker Stalin in "Life and Extraordinary Adventures of Private Ivan Chonkin," mayor in "Straw Hat," Kuks in "Strange Adults," Mephistopheles in "Scenes from "Faust."
