In August in 1945, Hoshino mura-native Tatsuo Yamamoto, ignited a small portable lamp from the ashes of Hiroshima. The flame was later transferred to the city's municipality for storage. It is the only fire in the world ignited directly from the Hiroshima nuclear fire.
