Shparo and another record-holding Polar explorer Boris Smolin have set another world record, skiing to the North Pole at night for the first time in history. Both men set out during the winter equinox, on December 22, 2007, from Cape Arktichesky, the northernmost point of the Severnaya Zemlya archipelago. They reached the North Pole 83 days later, on March 14, 2008 at 7.40 pm. Moscow time, traveling over 1,000 km along Arctic Ocean ice floes and arriving seven days before the onset of the polar day.
