World War Two veteran Mikhail Navrotsky receives congratulations on the upcoming Victory Day, marking the 79th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany in World War Two, in the courtyard of his house in Tiraspol, Transnistria region, also known as the unrecognised Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR), Moldova. Navrotsky fought against Japan during World War Two as a radio operator and was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, the medals "For Victory over Germany", "For Battle Merit" and "For Victory over Japan".

Russia WWII Veteran Congratulations

A view shows a letter from a volunteer on the desk of World War Two veteran Nikolai Denisenko, 97, at his house in the Kirovsky district of Donetsk, Donetsk People's Republic, Russia. Born in 1927, Denisenko was a teenager when the war began. He served as a marine infantryman, fought against Japan, and continued his service with the Red Banner Amur Military Flotilla until 1951. After the end of the World War Two, Denisenko moved to Donbass and worked as an underground mechanic at the Lidievka mine. He was awarded with the medals "For Labour Valour", "Miner's Glory", and a certificate "Best Mentor of Youth".
