Pratically all Soviet schoolchildren aged 9 to 14 were members of the Pioneer Organization named after Lenin. At the age of 14 schoolchildren joined the Young Communist League (Komsomol). At admittance, the new YCL members were given a badge and a membership card which was used to record membership fees.
