Russia's Foreign Ministry on September 7 announced the closure of the the German Consulate General in St. Petersburg and the German cultural centres in retaliation for Berlin's decision to close the Russian consulate in Bonn and a Russian cultural centre in Berlin. Last week, Germany blamed Russia for an attempted drone attack at Leipzig/Halle Airport on August 4, when an explosives-laden drone was found near a Ukrainian plane.
