

Former general director of Moscow football club Torpedo, Valery Skorodumov, accused of unlawfully influencing the outcome of sporting competitions, is seen inside a defendant's cage during a hearing at the Simonovsky District Court in Moscow, Russia. On July 13, the court sentenced him to two years in a general-regime penal colony. Last summer, Skorodumov and former Torpedo co-owner Leonid Sobolev became defendants in a criminal case over an alleged attempt to influence the outcome of the club's First League matches through referees. In May, investigators said Skorodumov had been charged with bribing 13 referees.
