Agafia Lykova, a hermit from the Old Believer family, and Ali Uzdenov, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the "Irbis" Association, stand near her home in a forested area of the Abakan Range in the Republic of Khakassia, Russia. The Lykov family of Old Believers moved to the Sayan Mountains taiga in the late 1930s, lived in isolation and were discovered by Soviet geologists in 1978. Agafia Lykova is now the only surviving member of the family.
