Head of the Moldovan autonomous region of Gagauzia, Yevgenia Gutsul and Moldovan opposition Pobeda (Victory) bloc activist Svetlana Popan appear on a screen via a video link from a pre-trial detention centre during a hearing at the Chisinau Court of Appeal in Chisinau, Moldova. The court on May 28 upheld a lower court ruling sentencing Gutsul and Popan to seven and six years in prison respectively for involvement in the illegal financing of the banned Shor Party.
