

World War II veteran Vasily Gritsenko, 99, receives congratulations ahead of Victory Day, marking the 81st anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany in World War Two, in Tiraspol, Transnistrian region, also known as the unrecognized Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, Moldova. During the war he studied at a vocational training school in Novosibirsk. In 1944 he was conscripted into the army and met Victory Day at his post in Omsk. After the war, with the rank of major of the technical service, Vasily Loginovich served in the Far East and in Germany, and until 1973 in Tiraspol. Over the course of his service, he was awarded the medals "For Combat Merit", "For the Victory over Germany" and other state decorations.
