

World War II veteran Konstantin Puganov, 98, receives congratulations ahead of Victory Day, marking the 81st anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany in World War Two, in Tiraspol, Transnistrian region, also known as the unrecognized Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, Moldova. He had completed eight years of schooling when the war began. From January to May 1945, he served in a training unit of the Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol, taking part in mine-clearing operations, and later served aboard the battleship Sevastopol. Over 25 years of naval service, Konstantin Ivanovich rose to the rank of captain 2nd rank and was awarded the medals "For Combat Merit", "For the Victory over Germany", and 18 other decorations.
