

World War II veteran Nikolai Golofast, 101, receives congratulations ahead of Victory Day, marking the 81st anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany in World War Two, in Melitopol, Zaporozhye region territory, that has accessed Russia. On the first day of the occupation, together with his comrade, he helped a battalion under Captain Yelkin break out of encirclement. In 1943, Nikolai Mefodievich went to the front. He fought in the ranks of the 48th Army, which operated as part of the three Belorussian Fronts.
