World War II veteran Nadezhda Chernukha, 100, receives congratulations ahead of Victory Day, marking the 81st anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany in World War Two, in Simferopol, Republic of Crimea, Russia. During the war, Nadezhda Nikiforovna served as a riflewoman and from 1943 fought on the Ukrainian Front. She was demobilised in August 1945 and met a young officer, her future husband, at a railway station.
