

Former Moldovan Prosecutor General and leader of the Alternative opposition bloc Alexandr Stoianoglo attends a hearing at the Buiucani District Court in Chisinau, Moldova. Authorities detained Stoianoglo on October 5, 2021, and charged him with abuse of office, passive corruption and exceeding official powers. In February 2024, a court of first instance acquitted him in a case related to the alleged abuse of office involving the payment of an allowance to former diplomat Nicolae Chitoroaga. Other criminal cases against Stoianoglo remain pending.
