

Russian Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyarev pays his respects next to the coffin of Soviet and Russian football striker and coach Nikita Simonyan, who died at the age of 99 on November 24, during a farewell ceremony before his funeral at the Lukoil Arena in Moscow, Russia. A four-time Soviet Union champion, Simonyan played for Spartak Moscow, winning the USSR Cup twice and becoming the club's all-time top scorer with 160 goals. In 1956, he earned an Olympic gold medal as part of the Soviet national team at the Melbourne Games.
