

Treating survivors of the Chernobyl disaster (April 26, 1986) at Clinical Hospital No. 6 of the USSR Healthcare Ministry in Moscow. Recovery therapy for patients exposed to high radiation. Patients exposed to different level of radiation, including patients with severe burns, were treated at the hospital. Reduction in platelets resulted in bleeding and many patients needed platelet concentrate transfusion. Extracting platelets from donor blood at the Institute of Biophysics of the USSR Healthcare Ministry (at Clinical Hospital No. 6).
