

Border guards from the 8th Border Outpost Novoalexeyevka of the 58th Grodekovo Border Control Unit, subordinated to the Border Force of the People's Commissariat (Ministry) of Internal Affairs. They took part in eliminating a Japanese picket on the Soviet-Manchurian border near Churkin Mys Bluff. In the early hours of August 9, 1945, ten assault teams from the Grodekovo Border Control Unit destroyed nine enemy facilities. They blew up nine Japanese garrisons, destroyed 20 earth-and-wood emplacements, 16 concrete pillboxes, six observation posts, one command post, killed, wounded and captured 253 Japanese officers and soldiers.
