A Nordwind Airlines' Boeing 777-200ER passenger aircraft, the first flight of the air link between Moscow and Pyongyang since the mid-1990s, takes off from the Sheremetyevo International Airport outside Moscow, Russia. Russia's Transport Ministry said there will be one flight a month to meet demand. Until now, the only direct air route between Russia and North Korea was Air Koryo's service from Pyongyang to Russia’s eastern port city of Vladivostok reopened in 2023 following a break caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
