Officers of the Armenian National Security Service arrive to detain Archbishop Mikael Ajapahian, head of the Shirak Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, in Armenia. A criminal case has been opened against the head of this diocese, Archbishop Mikael Ajapahian. Earlier in the week, the Armenian Investigative Committee said that the Holy Struggle movement under the leadership of Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, who led protests in 2024 demanding Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's resignation, was allegedly preparing terrorist attacks and a coup.
