

A visitor holds a tame fox at the experimental fur farm of the Institute of Cytology and Genetics, Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences, in Novosibirsk region, Russia. The experiment on domesticating foxes was started in 1959 by the Soviet geneticist and academician Dmitry Belyaev. As a result, a unique population of foxes was bred, which behaved in many ways similar to a domestic dog.
