

Chairman of the Belarusian State Border Committee Konstantin Molostov, Head of the Administration of the President of Belarus Dmitry Krutov, Russian Deputy Defence Minister Viktor Goremykin, Governor of Brest Region Piotr Parkhomchik and Chairman of the Coordinating Board of the International Union of Public Associations of Veterans (Pensioners) of the Border Service Colonel General Mansur Valiev cut a ceremonial ribbon during a ceremony to unveil the Soviet border guards monument on the eve of the Day of National Remembrance of the Victims of the Great Patriotic War and the Genocide of the Belarusian People, marking the 84th anniversary of the Nazi German invasion of the Soviet Union during the World War Two, at the Brest Hero-Fortress memorial complex in Brest, Belarus. The 3.5-metre high sculptural composition, donated by Russia and installed at the fortress' North Gate, symbolises the restoration of the state border in 1944.
