

Soviet scientist Nikolai Shuykin, specialist in the field of hydrocarbon chemistry and organic catalysis, deputy director of the Institute of Organic Chemistry of the USSR Academy of Sciences, corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences, vice-president of the Mendeleyev Union Chemical Society, chairman of the expert commission of the Higher Attestation Commission on chemical technology. At the Zelinsky Institute of Organic Chemistry of the USSR Academy of Sciences, Nikolai Shuykin founded the first laboratory of artificial fuels and gases in the USSR, which he headed until 1965.
