

Ivan Simakov, a 98 y.o. WWII veteran, receives congratulations from servicemen of the Russian Eastern Military District and members of the Yunarmiya (Young Army) youth military patriotic movement on the upcoming Victory Day, marking the 80th anniversary of the Victory over Nazi Germany in World War Two, in Chita, Russia. Simakov was born on October 9, 1926 in the village of Onon-Borzya in Alexandrovo-Zavodsky district of Chita region. He studied in school for only 3 years and in 1943 was called up for military service. During World War Two he served in the 111st motorized rifle regiment of Soviet Army as a chauffeur. From August 9 to September 3, 1945 he took part in the war with Japan.
