On December 15, the Russian Federal Agency for Sea and Inland Water Transport said that two oil fuel-laden tankers, Volgoneft 212 and Volgoneft 239, had wrecked in the Kerch Strait during a storm. The tankers were estimated to be carrying about 9,200 tonnes of fuel oil, of which about 2,400 tonnes leaked into the sea, much less than initially estimated.
