Brother of Russian Emperor Alexander III Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich served as the Governor General of Moscow until his death from a terrorist bomb at the Kremlin in 1905, and Grand Duchess Elizaveta Fyodorovna was the founder of the convent.
