

Former commander of the 58th Army of the Russian Armed Forces, Major General Ivan Popov, charged with large-scale fraud, accompanied by his legal counsel Sergei Buynovsky, attends a hearing at the Tambov Garrison Military Court in Tambov, Russia. On July 15, Russia's 235th Garrison Military Court ruled to transfer Gen. Popov from pre-trial detention to house arrest. According to the Russian Investigative Committee, Popov is involved in theft of equipment of defense structures in the Zaporozhye Region worth 130 million rubles (1.4 million dollars).
