

The Belarusian village of Mikhalishki in the Ostrovets district of the Grodno region, where about eight hundred Jews lived before the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. During the years of German occupation, the fascists and their accomplices killed almost all of the Mikhalishki Jews or drove them into a ghetto. After the war, a new Mikhalishki were built. A reminder of those distant and terrible years was a monument erected in Mikhalishki at the old Jewish cemetery. A resident of the village of Mikhalishki, Ms. Stakun, is one of the few who survived.
