

An expedition of the Special Design Bureau for Automation Equipment for Marine Research (now the Special Design Bureau for Automation Equipment for Marine Research, Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences) based at the Special Design Bureau for Marine Seismoacoustic Equipment and the Hydroacoustics Department of the Sakhalin Integrated Research Institute of the Far Eastern Scientific Center of the USSR Academy of Sciences (currently the Institute of Marine Geology and Geophysics Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences) in order to study the bottom topography and features of water movement in the coastal zone of Sakhalin. Patiria pectinifera is a common species of starfish.
