A guard of honor salutes Antonina Vodyanikova, a WWII veteran, on the upcoming Victory Day in Novosibirsk, Russia. Vodyanikova joined the army in 1942 as an anti-aircraft gunner, defending the sky of Moscow and completed her service in Poland in 1945 with the rank of corporal. She was awarded several high military honors. Returning to her native Novosibirsk, she married her former commander Yuri Vodyanikov, graduated from a pedagogical colledge and worked in public education until retirement.
