

A view shows a letter from a volunteer on the desk of World War Two veteran Nikolai Denisenko, 97, at his house in the Kirovsky district of Donetsk, Donetsk People's Republic, Russia. Born in 1927, Denisenko was a teenager when the war began. He served as a marine infantryman, fought against Japan, and continued his service with the Red Banner Amur Military Flotilla until 1951. After the end of the World War Two, Denisenko moved to Donbass and worked as an underground mechanic at the Lidievka mine. He was awarded with the medals "For Labour Valour", "Miner's Glory", and a certificate "Best Mentor of Youth".
