

World War Two Veteran and 1st Rank Captain Luka Kuzin, 98, receives congratulations during a personal parade in the courtyard of his house on the upcoming Victory Day, marking the 79th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany in World War Two, in Sevastopol, Republic of Crimea, Russia. During WWII, Kuzin studied medicine but then joined the war effort. In 1942, helped build defensive structures, earning the medal "For the Defense of the Caucasus." Later, became a cadet in the Kirov Submarine Training Unit and participated in two military campaigns, including liberation of Sevastopol and port of Constanta, Romania. Kuzin ended the war as petty officer first class on a submarine, decorated with the Orders of the Red Star and Patriotic War 2nd Class, and the Medals "For Battle Merit" and "For the Victory over Germany."
