World War Two veteran Anna Shemonaeva, 98, and her daughter Nina, left, pose for a photo in the apartment in the village of Kozulka, Krasnoyarsk Region, Russia. Anna volunteered for the front at the age of 17 from her native village of Ryabinovka in Tambov Region. From 1943 till the end of the war Shemonaeva served as an anti-aircraft gunner at the 2nd Ukrainian Front, was wounded, but returned to service. She fought in battles in Belarus, Moldova and Hungary and took part in the Budapest and Debrecen offensive operations. She celebrated the Victory Day in the Hungarian city of Debrecen with the rank of sergeant. Anna Vasilievna was awarded with the medals For Courage, For the Capture of Budapest, and the Order of the Patriotic War 2nd class.
