

Alexander Konovalov, member of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences (now Russian Academy of Sciences), separated Siamese twins, Vilija and Vitalija Tamuleviciute, who were joined at the forehead, meaning their brains were also linked, at the Burdenko Neurosurgery Institute in Moscow (now Burdenko National Medical Research Center of Neurosurgery of the Russian Healthcare Ministry). Vilija and Vitalija with their mother, Dajva, after the surgery.
