Schoolchildren lay flowers at the bust monument to Soviet pilot Valery Chkalov, a Hero of the Soviet Union, recently unveiled at the school No 226 in Minsk, Belarus. The memorial, commemorating the USSR's most popular record-breaking pilot, was opened with the initiative of the Russia's Nizhny Novgorod Region government on his 120th birth anniversary, which will be marked next year, in a school located on the territory of the former Minsk airport.
