Nikolai Antoshkin, Chief of Staff of the Air Force of the Kyiv Military District, Major General of Aviation, liquidator of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in the Ukrainian SSR. He supervised the actions of the personnel to close the reactor, and also personally flew over it, while receiving a large dose of radiation.
