American student Samantha Smith in Leningrad, who arrived in the Soviet Union at the invitation of Yury Andropov, Secretary-General of the USSR Communist Party, Chairman of the Presidium of the USSR Supreme Soviet. During her visit to Leningrad, Samantha learned about the city under siege, laid a wreath at the Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery and read Tanya Savicheva's diary.
