Festival of Soviet-Indian friendship (Festival of India in the USSR). It took place in 1987-1988 on the initiative of Mikhail Gorbachev and Rajiv Gandhi in numerous regions of the USSR and India. During a trip to the Azerbaijan SSR, Indian artists visited the Ateshgah Temple of fire worshipers in the suburbs of Baku in the village of Surakhani. An ancient sanctuary of fire-worshipping Zoroastrians.
