Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill conducts a service which marks the feast day of St. Nicholas at the St. Nicholas of Myra Cathedral in Moscow, Russia. St. Nicholas was the archbishop of Myra at the end of the 3rd and beginning of the 4th centuries in Lycia (present-day Turkey), and today he is undoubtedly one of the most venerated Christian saints. In the Russian tradition, Nicholas the Wonderworker came to be regarded as a native saint.
