

The Minin and Pozharsky Monument on Red Square honors Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky who set up and commanded volunteer army in Nizhny Novgorod in 1611 and who eventually liberated Moscow from Polish invaders in 1612. The sculpture was built in 1818 to design by architect Ivan Martos.
