A mandarin duck flies over the Solyonaya Protoka (Salty Bayou) River in the suburbs of Vladivostok, Russia. Сontrary to the name, it is a freshwater reservoir with a variety of life forms unique to the city . A feature of this reservoir is the habitat of mandarin ducks listed in the Red Book of Russia. In addition to mandarin ducks, mallards, coots, reed warblers (or marsh chickens), gray herons have chosen the river pool, and great white herons stop for a flight. A Japanese cormorant arrives to eat fish.
