The Crimean Region of the Ukrainian SSR. On November 14, 1989, deputies of the Supreme Soviet (Parliament) of the USSR passed a declaration on reinstating the rights of deported nations. The Crimean Tatars who had been deported during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 started returning to their historical homeland. Photo: Tractor driver R.
