Member of the Politburo of the CPSU Central Committee, Foreign Minister Eduard Shevardnadze, second right, and British Foreign Secretary Geoffrey Howe, left, signed an agreement between the governments of the USSR and the United Kingdom on cooperation in the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes. The document was signed during Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's visit to Moscow.
