The Kampuchean United Front for National Salvation overthrew the dictatorship of Pol Pot in 1979 with the support of Vietnamese volunteers. The last 18-thousand troop of the 50-thousand Vietnamese contingent left the territory of the People's Republic of Kampuchea on 8 December 1988.
