

On December 7, 1988, the devastating magnitude 10 earthquake in Soviet Armenia totally destroyed the city of Spitak and 80 percent of Leninakan (currently Gyumri), the republic's second largest city. Evacuees in a holiday center of the resort city of Adler - a 10-year-old Tigran Tsaturyan saved by rescuers from the debris and his grandfather Vazgen.
