People take part in a rally against an increase of liquefied gas prices, in Aktau, Kazakhstan. Protesters demanded prices be cut back from 120 tenge ($0.28 per liter) to the old price of 60 tenge. The initial cause of the protest was a spike in prices for compressed gas in the country's western energy heartland, but a government move to lower the prices in line with the protesters' demands has failed to calm them. Earlier this day, the government commission promised protesters to decrease gas prices and not to prosecute those participating in rallies.
