The research vessel Akademik Alexei Krylov (Project 1846) is the flagship of the Soviet scientific fleet. Built in 1981 for the Krylov Leningrad Central Research Institute (now the Krylov State Scientific Center), which does fundamental research of the sea, shipbuilding and related activities.
